PEN World Voices 2018: Resist & Reimagine

PEN America has announced the lineup for their 2018 World Voices Festival, which will focus on voices of resistance from around the world including Iran/France's Négar Djavadi, Italy's Domenico Starnone and Pulitzer Prize-winning author and translator Jhumpa Lahiri.

On April 19, Djavadi and Starnone will both read original pieces in Cry, the Beloved Country, an evening of solidarity with authors whose voices have been crucial in articulating the pain and rage of the oppressed populations in their home countries.

On April 21, Djavadi will be joined by Akwaeke Emezi and Kanchana Ugbabe for a discussion of literature that illuminates and gives insight into powerful transitions in Liminal States.

Later that day, Starnone will be joined by translator Jhumpa Lahiri and Europa's Editor in Chief, Michael Reynolds, for a discussion of The Trick of Translation.
