Book Marketing Internship Opportunity

We publish about 35 titles a year of fiction, non-fiction, and high-end crime fiction from around the world.
Proposed start date: November 2020
Hours: approx. 20 hours/week, flexible hours
Supervisors: Kathy Wiess, Director of Sales, Marketing, and Business Development; Edoardo Andreoni, Editor.
The successful candidate will be supervised directly by managers of the marketing, sales, and editorial departments. He or she will gain experience in many aspects of the daily running of the publishing house. These may include but are not limited to: scheduling, preparing marketing and publicity material including tip sheets and catalog copy; direct-to-consumer marketing through social media, advertising, newsletters; developing effective digital creatives and campaign visuals; metadata management and optimization; online events management. Candidates will also have the opportunity to present titles internally, to salespeople, and to booksellers.
Successful candidates will be prepared for entry-level positions in the sales, marketing, and publicity departments of both large and small publishers.
The internship offers a monthly stipend and unlimited copies of Europa publications.
NOTE ON REMOTE INTERSHIP
This internship will be 100% remote. Candidates will be considered regardless of their physical location, but successful candidates must be available online during regular ET office hours, Monday through Thursday depending on final schedule.
Candidates must have access to a high-speed internet connection.
Other equipment, supplies, or subscriptions necessary to gain the experience offered via this internship will be available, pending approval.
• Demonstrated interest in the book industry and contemporary adult fiction.
• Candidate must have excellent organizational skills and possess the ability to work autonomously. Excellent writing and communication skills are a must.
• Familiarity with social media platforms (esp. Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook) and experience working with Mailchimp, Word, and Photoshop
• Experience with sales reporting or inventory management systems is a big plus
• A good feel for advertising copy and effective digital creatives a plus
• Editing and copyediting experience a plus.
• Bookselling experience a plus
