Europa Editions is an independent publishing house founded in 2005 with offices in New York, London, and Rome. We are one of North America’s leading publishers of international literature. 

Among our authors we count five Booker Prize shortlist nominees and one winner, several Costa Book Award winners, two Pulitzer Prize winners, two winners of the Prix Goncourt, three winners of the Strega Prize, and one winner of the German Book Prize. INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

Internship Duration: 5 months

Hours: approx. 25 hours/week, AM/PM t.b.d.

Supervisor: Editor in chief, Michael Reynolds

 

Successful candidate will be supervised by our senior publicist and by Europa's Editor in chief. He or she will gain experience in many aspects of the daily running of the publishing house. These may include but are not limited to: scheduling, preparing marketing material, assisting in the organization of author events, direct-to-consumer marketing through social media and newsletters, editing, copy writing, proof reading, title presentation, and manuscript evaluation. Successful candidates will be prepared for entry-level positions in publishing.

 

The internship is unpaid but does offer a stipend of $250/month, a monthly metropass (or equivalent), and free copies of Europa publications.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated interest in the book industry and contemporary adult fiction.
  • Demonstrated interest in book media and social media.
  • Ability to express opinions clearly and concisely.
  • Candidate must have excellent organizational skills and possess the ability to work autonomously. Excellent writing and communication skills are a must.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (esp. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest). and experience working with Mailchimp, Word, Photoshop are important plusses
  • Editing and copyediting experience a plus.
  • Ability to read and correspond in at least one of the following languages is a big plus: German, French, Spanish, Italian.
