Words Worth Books, a full service bookstore in Waterloo, Ontario, opened in June 1984. It is owned by Chuck Erion and Tricia Siemens. Previously the owners carried on a bookstore business for some seven years in Mount Forest, Ontario, a small town north of Guelph. Waterloo was chosen as a site for the new store after consideration of college cities from coast to coast.
Words Worth is a full-range, full-service primary independent bookstore in a 450,000 population market with two universities and a community college. Filling this market's book needs has been the raison-d'etre of the store. We're happy to report the growth rate in sales and general goodwill in the marketplace clearly testify to the success of this effort. This was confirmed in mid-1997 when a consumer study of the Waterloo Uptown determined that Words Worth Books was the Number One business that drew customers to the area. In September, 2004, readers of the Waterloo Chronicle voted Words Worth as their Favourite Independent Bookstore.

Unlike the chain stores, an independent store such as Words Worth Books strives to provide a broad range of interesting books backed by a knowledgeable staff prepared to special order any in-print title not currently in stock. Every book is handpicked by our buyers who each bring over 20 years of experience to the task. We have created a comfortable atmosphere in the store to encourages customer browsing and our extended evening hours give customers ample time to shop.

2004 marks our twentieth year serving Waterloo's booklovers. Watch for celebratory events in conjunction with our author events this fall.
